Given the Winter Storm Warning issued for the St. Louis Metro Area, STL CAPS wants to remind our families and student associates how we will communicate weather-related decisions.
If inclement weather (snow, ice, low temperatures, etc.) impacts travel in our region, STL CAPS will follow the closure determination made by Affton School District via local TV & radio outlets. STL CAPS will notify student associates & parents of our closure via email, our Twitter & Instagram accounts, and our website.
On closure days STL CAPS course strands will always utilize Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) to remain connected with our student associates and maintain our calendar.
An AMI day could include synchronous meetings/activities/presentations via Zoom or Google Meet, asynchronous activities, or a blend of both. STL CAPS Instructors will communicate the AMI approach & expectations with their student associates via text and/or email once the closure has been announced.
- In the event a student associate’s home high school is closed due to inclement weather, but Affton School District/STL CAPS are open – student associates should text their instructor & await further instructions.
- If traveling is not advisable, student associates will be expected to connect with their STL CAPS course strand via Zoom or Google Meet.
- In the rare event that Affton School District/STL CAPS are closed due to inclement weather, but a student associate’s home high school is open, the student should attend classes at their home high school and connect with their STL CAPS course strand via the communicated AMI approach.
